Unhappy These Cards Use To Be Worth Thousands Of Dollars !

During the 'collector's market bubble' ,that lasted from late 1980's to early 2000's, these Pokemon cards were worth quite a bit of money.
The bubble has popped a long time ago - taking with it most of the value of this collection.

OMG..I hear you. I have thousands upon thousands of baseball cards that are now practically worthless because the bubble popped a while back. I blame the card companies because they priced the kids out of the market. I used to buy packs every week and got good stuff, and I'd go to card shows several times a year with my friends. Now, to get anything good you have to shell out some serious money at a hobby shop or somewhere, and target and walmart only have the bottom of the barrel. I don't know any kid that collects baseball cards anymore and its a shame really. Ok rant over, lol.

    It's called Marketing.
Place the label "Limited Edition" or "Collectible" on anything and people will buy it.

FACT: Any item that is mass produced that is labeled as such it is a Marketing tool to sell "stuff"

My mother used to buy Hallmark Christmas ornaments, before Ebay they produced a hardcover "price guide" (hint: another money maker for Hallmark)
Once Ebay arrived on the scene those "limited edition" ornaments that were so valuable in the "price guide" went up for sale on Ebay- when there are 400 of the same "limited edition" item- price does what it normally does when supply exceeds demand- it drops like a rock.

Same scenario for Baseball cards, Pokemon cards, Beanie Babies etc. etc.

    Marketing Professor Sledge...Out!
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!

I think baseball cards made before specific years are still worth something, but with collectors avoiding them sooner or later they will drop in value like a rock (same thing with stamp values since young collectors left).

Old Comic books are worth quite a bit, anything since the 80's is worthless.

I collect vintage computers, thanks to age and people around here scrapping them prices are going up and now down.

In 2000 I owned one of the authorized Pokemon distributors in the US. It was literally a iicense to print money, if you had product. Like all things the fad cooled and I had one shipment as the bubble popped that was probably going to be a problem when it arrived. Lucky for us the shipment got "lost" at the local shipping terminal (i.e. Stolen) before it arrived. A month or so later there was a scene on the Sopranos where they talk about boosting a Pokemon shipment. Real life vs TV.
