Just wanted to share*some background on Mother's Day.* In the U.S. it started with Anna Jarvis respect for her mother.* It became a holiday in 1914.* It became commercialize by Hallmark cards followed by the flower companies.* She was disappointed that it became a commercial endeavor instead of a celebration out of respect.*
Originally in ancient times it was a time to respect mothers that lost sons in battle.* Then the Christian Church recognized it as a celebration of the mother of the church.*
As a history major I could not resist the opportunity to share the information.**
