    Toro 223D

Owner of golf course says I'm helping to clear the parking lot, this Toro 223D is the last of the mowers.

Has a Mitsubishi L3E 3 cylinder diesel engine, runs really great, started dismantling the mower this afternoon and found that all the hydraulic spool valves are 12 volt operated from micro switches. Has a really neat power steering unit that I can install on my Satoh tractor.

Did not get the grass cutting reels but have all five of the hydraulic drive motors.

The owner of the gold course told me that the cutting reels were worn out and that replacing them would have cost the price of a good used mower of later vintage and less hours, might be a good idea fro some of you guys to go and check out that your local course has sitting in the back 40 as unused and unwanted equipment.

The smaller three wheel Toro came as 3 or 2 wheel drive with either the Isuzu or Perkins diesel engine rated at 18 hp. the larger mower came as a reel or front mounted mower and came with the Mitsubishi diesel engine HP at this time unknown by me. Still researching the specs on that engine.

It would appear that the Mitsubishi engine had been replaced at one time, this engine is super clean, starts and runs really good.

There's money to be made in selling the engines.

The Mitsubishi L3E engine used is selling at $2350.00 US on ebay, puts out 24 horsepower.

This makes the Toro 223D a great score, this engine is going to be installed into another project tractor that I have. It's a Simplicity Powermax 9020 with a 3 point hitch and hrydrostatic drive with high and low range.

Be sure to check out your local gold course for hidden junk, you might surprise yourself coming away with a score.
