My garage door is made from 2 x 6 and plywood with a man door installed for entry when the door is closed, to eliminate shoveling snow the overhead rail is installed inside the building. So the door opens into a snow free area,
For the past two years I've had to manually open the door, yesterday while getting my tractor tires out back on the rims and filled had some time to kill.
When to the scrap yard to get a few pictures of that Gleaner with the Aliis Chalmers engine, but Jack has since pushed everything into the pile.
I did however find a treasure, the Chore Time winch was discarded from the chicken barns, found some info through google.
The winch is hooked to to a thermostat when the barn gets to warm the winch opens the shutters just ahead of the fans.
The winch gears were choked up with rust and dust from chicken feed, after dissembling and cleaning every thing up and greasing the winch is now again working.
That little winch is rated at 2000 lbs.
Maybe a bit of an over kill for a garage door opener but hey it was free.
