No I did not. I was aware of it because I've recently started going back to my local club meetings and it was discussed there.

I've found it interesting that they are running "what if" tests where all other electronic communications are down.

15+ years ago when I was involved with emergency communications in support of shelters during hurricanes. Back then the officials had pretty much dismissed us Hams to the back corner because they had cell phones and didn't need us. One time during a hurricane here in eastern North Carolina the cell phone service did fail for a couple of days and then the guys in the back corner were needed.

My involvement these days is restricted to my home station. My last hf rig broke and I'm now getting up to speed with my new one Icom IC-7300. I just put up a wire dipole antenna for the 30 meter band. 30 meter band is only for cw(morse code) and digital modes. So I was not really ready to participate. I am impressed that someone could think that a test like this would be a good idea.

Yup ham radio repeaters are independently powered off grid and most radios will run off a 12 volt battery, could be huge event coming up.
