    Anyone else here a golfer?

I am but I am still not very good. I've been playing on and off for about 8 years or so - I have alot of vendors take me out golfing for work, so I eventually bought clubs, shoes etc... and learned the basics. I always thought golf was boring in the past but it's pretty enjoyable. Anyone else here golf?

I played a LOT as a kid and was pretty good at one time- have a few trophies from back in the day. I do remember going out to play with my dad and he would say he only had time for 9 holes. I remember thinking that was such a wimpy excuse, and now I totally get it!

I like to golf. Play about once a month or so. I am not very good (mid 90's), but no one has a better time.

I only golf when invited by friends. Never understood why they would offer the invitation because I am so bad. Then I realized they invited me because I make them look good. I also score in the mid - 90's and hope we are talking about 9 holes.

I will never be able to golf again after reading this.

If the odds of a single hole in one are 1 in 10,000, then the odds of three in the same round are one in a trillion. Staggering to say the least. So staggering that you have to wonder if perhaps she exaggerated. Yet this occurred in a tournament, so maybe it is legit.

We have a mini golf course at a friend's place. Basically it's a few golf balls & a golf bat & some plastic golf holes I picked up at a auction once for $4.

More of a sunny afternoon or a barbecue time amusement. We let one of the kids hit a ball, and where it started & where it stopped become ' Tee one & Hole One' & so on, so each person got their own part of making the course.
We named each hole after what was closest to it,. 'Big rock' & 'Bulldozer' (toy) & 'park bench' etc etc.

It's a fun game, kids & adults alike love it. The adults can 'bet' a couple of $$ on it, but if a kid wins, they still get to keep the winnings (serves the adults right for gambling eh?)

It definately helped the adults putting skills, the kids love being equal to the adults in a competition too.

It's a real fun thing to do, you can even be at somebody else place/BBQ & 'spontainisly' come up with the idea in real time in front of others.
All you need is a golf ball & a golf bat (hey it's not that serious of a game LoL ) & maybe make the holes from plastic pottles or such.

I have broken 100 once - got a 97. I can't recall what course and it was a while ago when I played more often.

When I was still green... I was at a tournament with a vendor and told the sales engineer that I was in the cart with that I was a "scratch golfer" "I am not that good, I am more of a scratch golfer" LOL only because I didn't fully understand the term "scratch golfer"... I equated it to a "scratch" shot in pool where you sink the que ball. I was pretty mad at him when I tried to chip (I am better at everything, chipping is the worst for me) and it was of course a bad shot and he goes... "huh... that sure wasn't too good". I was thinking "well screw you... see if we buy anything else from you, I just told you I am no good, this is for fun anyway not serious" ... then a hole later I told my friend what what a jerk I was paired up with etc... and he says hey... you DO know what that means right? Then he explained it. ROTFLMAO
