    Mexico

MEXICO CITY – Mexican marines on Friday said they had discovered an underground drug lab in the mountains outside the capital of Sinaloa state where they destroyed 50 tons of methamphetamine.

Marines found the lab after intelligence reports indicated that tons of drugs were being produced in the area of Alcoyonqui municipality, about 12 miles outside the state capital of Culiacan, the ministry of the navy said in a statement.
In photos provided by the ministry, two marines in hazmat suits can be seen examining dozens of plastic containers in a mountain forest.
The statement said the drugs were hidden underground in two areas along with barrels of the chemicals used to produce meth. The drugs were incinerated on site due to the difficult access to the remote location, the ministry said.
Mexico is a major supplier of methamphetamine to the United States and it the top source of heroin, which is fueling a surge in opioid addiction. The country is also the principal highway for cocaine trafficked north.
Sinaloa is the seat of the powerful cartel formerly run by Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, who is facing trial in the United States later this year.

The sad thing is that's just a drop in the bucket. I'm glad they found it though.

A "drop in the bucket" is an overestimation. This accomplishes precisely nothing other than opening the way for another manufacturer to sell their product instead.

Prohibition doesn't work. Has never worked. Never will work.

It keeps a lot of people employed, though.

Yea, but it'd be considered contaminated. They use some nasty **** in making meth. It's why when places get busted with meth labs, they bring in a haz mat crew. An then you'll still be lucky to still be able to do something with the property. **** Meth. Nasty stuff. From the ingredients to what it does to a user. Just nasty.

Far as prohibition goes...not sure with meth, as I can find no good or reason for that drug to be anywhere near legal. Pot though...we've already seen with being legal in some places is having a slight impact on illegal sales, which is hurting cartel business. Shame most their money comes from other drugs an not just pot.

Short form - Meth sucks and it's very bad, whether using it or making it. Some next level evil right there.

It's great for weight loss and we do have an obesity epidemic!
