U.S. Mint Offerings- Skill or Luck?!?

    U.S. Mint Offerings- Skill or Luck?!?

    Today the U.S. Mint released a 1 oz. palladium coin with a limited release of 15,000 coins at noon EST. The coins cost $1,387.50 each and they sold out in no more than 7 minutes. Many got error messages when trying to buy, even those who were on the site well in advance of the noon release time. Rather than complain, I was wondering if anyone else participates in these deals and can share any tips or tricks they have.



    FYI- I was trying to buy 2 coins for 2 households (2 separate computers, addresses, credit cards, email addresses, etc.), but only able to get one. Anyone else?

    At the risk of straying off topic a bit, it would be VERY INTERESTING to see what would happen if the mint released a limited edition 5 ounce coin made of gold, platinum or palladium. Let's just say there were 5,000 of these made available. These could sell for perhaps $6,000 to $12,000 each. Even though there are a lot of people who wouldn't have a high enough limit on their credit cards to buy even one, I still say that there would be some ultra-wealthy people who would be very interested in getting perhaps 100 or more of these. So, let's say, a commitment of a million dollars or so.

    Now if I got an email saying "Would you like to make an easy $100?", my response would be that they would have to up the stakes big time. #imnotafool
