Scrap makes alot of messes. Does anyone have a wife or girl friend that *****es and moans every time you stop and pick something up off the side of the road or grab some stuff out of a dumpster?

yup! But I just tell her that if she wants to continue living our nice little quiet country lifestyle she will accept it, IT'S MONEY in the bank!
She used too. Until she realized the kind of money I make doing it. Once in a while she'll get out and grab stuff if I ask her too.
Mine goes with and helps out. The only time she complains is when i fill up the living room with stuff to take apart.
The only time mine makes any noise is when I fill up the garage and don't take stuff straight to my storage unit.
My wife used to complain about my space downstairs because it's more a storage space, plus she had to go through my stuff to get to hers. After the first decent payoff though, it's lessened quite a bit. (also try not to let it build up like it did)
Faith x Needs = Motivation
lol, once the dollars start rolling in the moaning stops!
lol Just have to show them the benefits so they believe!
Single here...but when I stored stuff at dad's he would complain. Bought a house and moved it there.
lol My husband complains sometimes "Don't leave crap laying everywhere." Sure make dinner and do the dishes while I finish breaking this stuff down. (If only I could get him to go for it I could get so much scrapping done.)
Hell, I will say it, I am lucky. It is the wife that pushes me to get more scrap and she is the one always willing to dumpster dive for that one aluminum can.
My wife goes with me, we have a 2 year old son..She also participates in teardowns...(She likes cutting the bulbs off christmas lights, woot) cause I hate that. But yes once she realized there was good money in it, she was onboard.
My gf is pretty much on board. She is in the apartment leasing business, and when the maintenance folks do some repair and there is scrap laying around, she will pick it up and bring it to me. She has even been able to get me a few appliances. Also, if we are in a parking lot of WalMart or whereever, and she spies a piece of scrap I missed, she does not hesitate to pick it up. A couple of years ago my scrapping paid for a trip to Vegas, so she is readily able to see the advantages of it. She also knows part of my bucket list is to play in one or two of the events in the World Series of Poker one of these years, and part of my scrapping money goes to the entry fees for this, so she figures if she can help to pick up some scrap it will help me get there. The main event is a 10K entry fee, but I would like to play one of the other events that has a $1,500 - $2,500 entry fee.
so glad to hear that the majority of you have happy marriages !
I was just today talking to the wife about how I'd been doing less tearing stuff down because of the humidity and I might need to slow down picking stuff up cause the stockpile is getting pretty big. She's like - "No, No, don't slow down. It'll cool down and you can start up again".
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
congrats on choosing a great life partner !! Or is she number 4 or 5 ??!! lol
Funny about that. We went together in HS. Got engaged when I went to VN after HS. Broke it off just before the wedding in 1970. Married other people. Both of us divorced (unknown to each other). Got back together in 1980; ten years after we'd broke it off. Married a year later in 1981. Just had our 30th anniversary on June 27th. Five kids between us but none together. Seven grandkids and one great-granddaughter.
That's a great story Mick. Thanks for sharing.
