there will be many, if not already, soon. The yard by me are closed... so... its at least effecting everyone involved in my state (yards, shredders, scrappers, brokers, families of all those, etc). Everyone and everything will be effected

I'm to busy trying to find a store that has food.
One of my bosses is Covid-19 positive and exposed the entire staff so the yard is temporarily closed. So.....yeah

That sucks. Hope you get back to it soon. This virus is really screwing up the economy! I haven't checked in on my local yard in two weeks. Maybe they are closed too???? The two yards I go to here have been open, the one was super busy a few days ago when I took in some aluminum. I just took a load of shred in Friday and the price tanked to $40/ton, the guy made sure I was aware in case I didn't want to dump it that day, so I chose to hold onto the load for now. I was just getting $120/ton, then $87, but $40 is just too low to bother. Guessing this is affecting the scrap here, but I also find the prices drop towards the summer when more people bringing stuff in, just never seen it that low.

I told my wife when she called me September 11th, 2001 after the attack, we had lived our lives in the very best of times and that things would never be the same. We are still on the "never be the same" course.... Sigh...

one of the yards by me shut down completely and another one is at like half staff 3 days a week. Not too much is changing in my county but down in Columbus I thought the zombies were coming or something. Either that or everyone chose to be a surgeon for halloween this year. some of the changes people are making I think are here to stay. As sad as it is.

If anyone looked at the price of silver lately that tanked too. I got 15 pounds of it i was gonna get rid of for like $4k. to help pay my girlfriends car off. now i'd be lucky to get half that.

I am also in PA. No yards by me are open, and I am surprised any are near you as I thought they were not on the list as essential. If it was zombies coming that would probably be easier to deal with as you can SEE them coming, and can just shoot them. Whats actually coming is invisible and not able to be shot at to be killed. Much scarier than zombies. A bunch of people in my area have died of it already. I am pretty sure me and my wife already had the corona and survived it fine, but many who get it do not. Some things I think will change forever, like less handshaking and the plexiglass germ blockers they are putting up at cash registers. But the social distancing will probably go away I would assume. People like to be together.

Around here a few are still open......The main yard where everyone dumps it's stuff is probably considered essential as that is where all the counties bring their recycling (You can drop it for free at dumps located around the city and county)......It is essential to keep the waste flowing as it should (in my opinion)

Fifteen pounds is quite a lot.
Regardless, this probably isn't the time to sell. Be patient. Ewasted was right. Gold is on a run right now. My guess would be that silver won't be too far behind. It's a good hedge against currency inflation.
Maybe check out the ten year historical charts at Kitco ? That could give you a rough idea of what it might possibly increase to per ounce.
Wait on paying off the loan if you possibly can. Pay them back with inflated/devalued/debased dollars. The two trillion the fed recently created is going to devalue the heck out of the currency.

I was working in the shop today. It's peaceful there. I got to thinking and realized that we haven't had a single telemarketer, survey taker, or (scam) charity fundraiser call in awhile.
I guess there's a bright side to every dark cloud. You just have to look for it and count your blessings when trouble comes around.

THEY ARE BACK, a friend of mine got one today for his truck warranty after 3 weeks of nothing. Maybe were over the hump !!! LOLI was working in the shop today. It's peaceful there. Physical silver? Dang... I bet you could get pretty close. There's a HUGE premium right now for physical silver. There are simply no sellers right now.
That's too big a dollar figure for me to deal with the unknowns/shipping/sight unseen/ etc but if you were in Dallas area, I'd be PMing you to meet right now!!!

I am a member of the Kitco board and I have seen a post there of someone selling on CL or FB and asking $17 and getting buyers. If you do decide to do this, I would sell in bite sized chunks someplace safe. I have heard there are huge premiums at coin shops which is basically the same as selling the silver at a higher price.

It's good advise if you really need to sell but please hold off if you can. There's really no telling what the picture is going to look like a year from now. The whole point of holding physical gold & silver (for many people) is that you have a fallback in case the ship hits the fan. It's like having an ace in the hole. Don't play that card unless you absolutely have to. You might only get one shot.
