I also read his tweets as well and I also read random articles on the internet. I randomly found this one and it catches my interest https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...s-anxiety.html Try reading this. I hope it helps you as well
I dunno ... the virus got loose in the local nursing home here and killed off about 25 % of the residents . A good chunk of the employees working there tested positive. That messed things up because there weren't enough people to do the job of running the place. Then it got out into the community and made a bunch of people sick.
Best case seems to be that you test positive without any symptoms. Then you have to go sit in the timeout chair for two weeks. That's two weeks lost pay if you don't have any sick days built up.
On the other hand .... maybe you do come down sick and have to go to the doctor or the hospital. That's anywhere from 500.00 - 100,000.00 $ in medical bills you have to pay out.
It's not really about the death rates ... you see ?
I'll be glad when this Covid-19 thing is a distant memory. It's been a royal PITA. Maybe 2021 will be a better year.
Nursing home by me it killed 34 of like 80 residence there. For the general population obviously it is much lower. Lots of people losing grandparents and parents over it.
I really dont think most people will care about the rona until it is their loved ones who die. And even then some still call it all a hoax.
Well ... it hasn't been a very good year for civility in politics. JMO, but the powers that be should never have made the pandemic a political issue. I've been following this whole thing pretty closely since it all began. It seems that we have two sides, each with their talking points. When a discussion comes up, those of each side, hurl those talking points back and forth at each other and nothing gets accomplished. Neither side is really willing to listen to what the other is saying. It's just a big argument.
I was kinda hoping that they would tone down the rhetoric after the election but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Next best solution would be to achieve herd immunity by some means or another. That way there's one less thing for them to be fighting over.
Maybe in 2021.
Eh idk about that. This was the first instance of something like this in my lifetime. We have had things before (mad cow, swine flu, ebola, etc), but it had never been made a big deal of like this. Why would this time be so different than all the other times if they were all manufactured things for us to "fight". Was the government we had this time to blame? We never fought any of the other ones like this, why this one now? I think this will pass and there will be news headlines in the future like "is this the next coronavirus?!?" to try and get click/ratings, but I think this one was unique and that we won't see another scare like this for a while. That is my hope at least.
I get what you are saying T. I supported Trump in 2016 and 2020 but the guy is just batshot crazy. There's right wing conservative Libertarian like myself, and then there's going way overboard to a place where reasoned thinking does not exist. That's where the sheeple come in. Trump is a charismatic leader. The sheep people will follow him blindly just like they did with Hitler in Nazi Germany.
It's the same with the left as well.
This extremism is the true threat to our liberty. Right wing extremism leads to fascism. Left wing extremism leads to a totalitarian police state. These things are just two sides of the same coin.
You might look at it this way: Sheep are just about the dumbest animals on the planet. The shepherd guides the flock wherever he wants them to go. Then he shears (fleeces) the sheep. Next he slaughters them for food or sells them off as he sees fit. The sheep exist only to serve the shepherd.
Next: Think of the shepherd as being the government and now you've got the picture.
True enough ... we need to be very careful of the left but we also have to be very careful of the right wing crackpots as well. Don't let them run their game on you. Question everything they're telling you. Think and decide for yourself.

All my contractor and construction friends have been booked out solid for months, and are making money hand over fist. Like half the houses in my development are having work done on their house. When one door closes another opens, there are many industries that are doing better now than ever before. Some are not. But thats how shes goes sometimes. Things ebb and flow and stuff like restaurants (well ones that couldn't adapt, some of the take places by me are still super busy) and retail/travel industry have been crushed, other industries have been thriving like never before. In America, there is always opportunity, even now, and capitalism always finds a way to work.
No ... you're very confused on your terms T.

Quote:
Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism[1][2] characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and strong regimentation of society and of the economy[3] which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe.[4] The first fascist movements emerged in Italy during World War I, before spreading to other European countries.[4] Opposed to liberalism, democracy, Marxism, and anarchism, fascism is placed on the far right within the traditional left–right spectrum
That said, this is as far as I am going to chase this down this rabbit hole. One of the rules that helps keep this board a refuge from the rest of the world is the no politics rule. Doesn't matter what either one of us thinks, it is not going to change a phuckin' thing.
That has more to do with economics K.
I was self employed in the carpentry trade for many years. The Dubya years were great for me. Those were the glory days however his economic policies overheated the economy and caused the crash of 07-08.
The Obama years were dark days. Not only were they not helping ... i felt that the dems were actively working against me. They don't like self employed people. I finally said the heck with it. There's a term called "Gone Galt". It's an important concept to understand for anyone who would seek to better themselves through independence and hard work.
Anyway ... Trump economics have been very good for the construction industry. I'm retired from the trade but the guys still in the game are doing very well.
That won't hold for very much longer.
