My good old pal aka my Tecumseh 22" gas powered and self propelled lawn mover has ended its lifecycle yesterday after several years of good service. It always started on the first time I pulled on the crank cord. We shared many hours together, good days and bad days, but it looks like it has just died from possibly a locked-up piston when I was cutting my front lawn. At my request, it will probably be disposed at the scrap yard quite soon. RIP Lawn Mower. I will miss you.
Meanwhile, I welcome a new comer to the family: a brand new Radley 14½" all-electric lawn mower. When I was shopping, I wanted another gas model, but they're now costing like what a small garden tractor used to cost. One of the hardware store even had a Milwaukee brand mower at CAD 1297.00 (USD 995.00). Electric battery / cordless models were not that cheaper than gas ones and I am not about how often the battery can be charged before needed to be replaced. Also, almost everyone needs to use a second battery just to be able to cut all the grass around the house at once and the charger is a slow 5 V while the batteries are 12 V. I didn't know the brand before and it seems to be a imported directly by the store and they didn't have any unusual rate of return on them. At CAD 115.00 (USD 88.00) taxes included, 3 year warranty and no more gas / oil to buy, I deciced to give it a try. I guess that managing the power cord cannot be more difficult than using a weed wacker or a hedge trimmer. It is also smaller than my old one and I will need to make more passes, but it should not be a real issue. Your comments are all welcomed.
