What I've learned so far from reading threads here

#1) Biggest one - I need to learn how to use a torch (my dad has acetylene torches) because I didn't know there was copper inside fridge/ac compressors (I don't know what I thought all the weight was from, the oil maybe ) and so if I learn I can make more than 9 cents a pound turning them in as steel which is how my yard takes them. I'm sure using torches will come in handy for other things too.

#2) There is gold in computer boards. Not that I will do anything with that myself but now I'm going to start saving those parts and figure out what to do with them later on when I get enough saved up!

#3) Garage sales. Mechanic gave me a great idea about passing cards at yard sales - that never entered my mind before and its a great way to network! Thanks for that tip!

#4) You're gonna laugh at this one but after one of my yards told me NO microwaves and tried describing a ''tube thingy'' I actually thought the capacitor was the dangerous part - now I know its the part that has the magnets and alum fins on it. Maybe I have enough magnets stuck to my toolbox I'm thinking now

#5) Read some different takes on how to ''Make a deal'' and execute it and that gave me an idea for a friend of the family owned golf course I used to work at as a teen.

These all might not be 'biggie' things in the grand scheme of things but I do believe they will help me to maximize even farther than I have been so far.

Glad to see you are taking the time to go thru threads and soak up all the info. I too was blown away by all the info on here and how you can turn that info into doe-ray-me(cash money) with a little work...Information is power.

Thank you Re-cycler for the warning! I won't go near propane tanks, etc, but I have some large air compressor tanks that my yard wants cut before they will accept them so I have got to learn to use the torches for that. I've got 4 rather large ones and they are just sitting in the yard going to waste so to speak! This is my next goal.

Remove the valve first. You do not want them to be under pressure when you cut them. Starting to cut will heat it up and expand the air in there even if it seems empty.

I would not try to remove the gold from computers...you have to deal with some pretty strong acids....We dont even do that in house due to the acids you have to use..We send our stuff out!

Thank you parrothead for the tip!

easyrecycle - yeah, I don't want to take a chance on blowing my garage up! So, now that I know I am just going to get a large box going at my dads and throw stuff in as I come upon it.

To my knowledge, there is only lead, no mercury. As far as the tanks go, we use our sawzall and split them around the middle, Just use a drill for a starter hole.

I love how some people freak out about CRT's. Use the search function. I've torn apart thousands of them. Aside from being shocked in the baby maker once, im good! LOL Gotta love user error.

Aaaahhahhahahahahahahhhahaahahahahaahahahahaaa!!!! Sorry Hoss..... You can have all my TVs too I hated the **** things before I heard this but now I shoot the tubes with a .22 then burn em after I clip the wire.
I have had insane amounts of electricity run through my body as a welder of over thirty years but gladly never been cranked in the fashion you took it.
I have been told that the arthritus in most of my joints is definately advanced from that though.
By the way....Did you leave a wet spot when you got ZZZapped ? Hahahahahahaa!
    ;?)
