Bought this meat slicer from one of the landfill custodians for $30.00. Patricia asked me why, just said I have an idea.
My first thought was the slicer would come in handy for making Jerky, but as most know one idea leads to another.
A trip to the local butcher to get a roast for the jerky lead to getting several box's of beef trimmings yea fat. I rendered the fat down into tallow then using the slicer cut some thin potato chips which I kettle fried.
To save my fingers from the blade I stab the spud with a fork.
Sent a pitcher of the chips over to her, now she wants me to give her some of my tallow and slice some chips up for her. This I'll do for her in the next couple of days.
I got a heads up on a large electric meat grinder that I've committed myself to purchasing, could not pass it up with an asking price of $100.00.
Any beef fat trimmings I get in the future will get ground up before rendering, this will help release the tallow and give me more usable pot space.
