Profit before quality leads to bad products

I've thought a long time about this reply. And it may get shut down, but here goes.
    List of problem imports from china. 1-fish, 2-toothpaste, 3-drugs, 4-ceramic heaters, 5-toys, 6-tires, 7-pet food, 8-clothing, 9-electronics, 10-toxic paints, etc., etc...
I could go on, but you all get the picture. I would say there is a PROBLEM there. As quite a few of you know by now from some of my other posts I definitely am not paranoid. But I do know whats dangerous. And who gives a d--m and who don't. In my opinion, china doesn't. They do care about profit though.
I don't know anything about china government or kickbacks nor do I care. I don't hate the players. I don't hate the game. Hell, I love football. I love AMERICA more!! I served my country PROUDLY 4 years in the USMC. And I'd do it again. Why? Because I do care.

AMERICAN BORN, AMERICAN BRED! AND I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!!

When someone used to complain about buying from China I would argue that it is now a world economy and everything shares a hinge pin the world over. I have however changed my mind in recent years due to the avalanche of garbage to come out of there. Lead paint, toxic dog food and then the poison dry wall was the final straw for me.

So I am on the "not buying China" band wagon myself. The wife and daughter have to buy the grand kid something every single time they go out. It is always some 1.99 crap that is broken within 2 minutes. I take the residents to the dollar tree once a month. I would estimate that 80% of the garbage in there is made in China. Even some of the candy. NEVER buy food from china.

I realise that there may be a member or two here from China. It would be refreshing to hear of some good stuff coming out of there, but I am not holding my breath.

I'd spend a few bucks more on something that was made in America, than China...That's for sure.

I am glad someone else is saying it! The new threat to us is not Islam or the Middle East, its the far East. China is slowly taking over this country. This is why High Voltage Processing never exports our copper. We only use American made machinery and we pay well above minimum wage. It is possible to turn a profit in this country and not ship everything overseas.

Its actually working in our favour. The Chinese are trying to get established company's to set up in China.

They have the cheap workforce & cheap production & materials & no quality control.

So by getting the company's into China they get a good brandname & overseas management who will assert their quality control into the Chinese system.

amen to what High Voltage Processing said...we are the same..what we get in..we do here in the usa. We use to companies that shipped over seas but I have relooked into new buyers who do not do that and found out that there are BUYERS IN the usa that WILL pay more because they cant get anything due to the fact that china buys everything.

I feel that as more companies turn inword and stops exporting they will find that not only will they make more and save a ton on shipping/exporting costs that they will sell here. More raw items being sold and used here...more companies will pop up to use the new raw goods.

i makes me sad that such a great country as the USA, with some of the most brilliant thinkers of our time, yet the Republicans & democrats can't put aside there political axes for a minute and FIX THE DEBT!!

You guys have about 7 Trillion in foriegn debt yeah?? But imports from china grow by huge percentages every year.

Only one way to fix this fellas

    KEEP THE MONEY AT HOME!!!

Buy American made, even better, buy American grown.

Forget the Ethanol debate, forget the corn syrup debate...untill your economy starts to heal, what ever it is..Buy AMERICAN from AMERICAN OWNED companies. and MAKE the stoires you shop at accountable, if they don't know where their apples come from..WHY THE HELL NOT????

My family ONLY buy 100% Australia products for daily consumption

    Thats,

    100% Aussie owned companies
    100% Aussie ingredients or components
    100% Aussie packaging

    etc, etc

Non of this "made from localand imported ingredients"

..sorry to Rant guys, and yes, I am not from the US, but seriously, if you don't get into this mind set, the slope will become more slippery

p.s After consumer pressure a national "independently owned" grocery store chain now published a boox every 6 mths and list all their 100% Aussie products, MAN!!! There business has skyrocketed!!!!

    Good luck to you all

I am and will continue to be against trade wars between countries. They have been the cause of recessions in the past.

I do dearly love my ability to vote with my feet. I have for several years stopped buying a certain US company's manufactured goods because it has gained the favor of the federal government. I also mention their quality is less than some of the made in China products. I don't name them here because it doesn't add to the discussion. One of the other things we and as a nation need to stop doing is having government officials picking their favorite companies and giving them tax breaks. First companies don't really pay taxes for the most part they are paid by the consumer of products and services. By taxing companies our government hides just how much we are each paying in taxes. It kills me everytime I watch some good looking moron on tv tell us we need to raise taxes on companies.

My personal belief is the Fair Tax is the best way to minimize the influence of the lobbyist. It takes a good read to fully understand the Fair Tax and I recommend you find the book and read it. Thanks to all for a very good thread, Mike.
