Where is As Is, my Massey 35

This is how the little Massey 35 looked like when I found her resting in the underbrush. Not a pretty site,

I obtained the telephone number for the property owner from a neighboring property owner, called every 2nd day for a month with out an answer, two years later my calls are less frequent, still no one to answer the phone.

Then out seeking treasures, I stumble across another Massey 35 in a different municipality. This tractors is in about the same condition with out the trees growing through the frame. So I wander over the nearest neighbor and get the owners name, whoa the same guy owns this one also.

But circumstances have taken a turn, the old man has passed away and the son is looking after the estate. I give the son a call and cut my deal which he accepts. I pat the man and drag my little gem home to be restored.

It's a 1956 Massey 35 with a Perkins 3 cylinder diesel, so far the restoration has new tires front and back, rims and hood painted. Still to do, replace the clutch and rebuild the fuel injectors and injection pump.

This is my first attempt to rebuild a diesel injection pump and injectors, I managed to purchase the rebuild kit for the injector pump for a diesel shop local to me for $50.00. In one of the junkers I picked up was test pump used to test and adjust injectors, it needed a new pressure gauge which is sitting in my desk drawer waiting to be installed.

I bought a shop manual from an ebayer in the UK for the CAV injection pump.

Those brings back a lot of memories from when I was a LITTLE kid. My grandfather had one on the farm he worked on. He used it for everything.

The law states that one may trespass onto land during daylight hours if your intentions are honorable unless otherwise posted. I use this law to snoop, if there is something of interest that needs the owners intervention, usually the first thing they ask is how did you find it when it was inside a building.

I have two stories that get me by, during the summer months I tell them that I was checking out old buildings looking for wild honey bees which are essentially domestic bees that have swarmed and taken up a new nest. Couple of years back I actually found one and harvested the honey comb.

For my other story, I have a Jack Russel and will tell the owner we were out for a walk when the dog came onto a scent or chased a coon into the building, in truth I would never use my dog to hunt, I would hate to see the dumb little bugger get tangled up with a Badger,, Wolverine, Porcupine or a Skunk and some of the coons are three times his size, so I always leash the mutt when I'm out with him in the wild.
