They want a grand and estimating 7000 lbs for old rusted out bucket.....am I missing something?

They should never said scrap metal...they are trying to sell it as a usable item....this happens when you have someone doing ebay listings who don't know what they are doing.

They only have 52 stars...so they are like NEW

Well, at my yards current prices, if the thing truly does weigh 7000 lbs, it will only bring in $665.

Now if this one was closer, I would try for it, 5 tons will get me about $1,000 at the yard and at the time of this post it was only going for $105. That would be worth going after.

Yes may be a good idea man, but, but, wait for it..... how would you scale it to ensure you get 5 ton and not less??? You would have to scale ya rig at the local truck stop. Then load up, then re-weigh. Then you take the chance its off and have to fight with him to get it right. On top of it you risk the chance he flys the coop while ya goign 30 miles one way to find a scale. Although if i remeber right there is a TA somewhere around there...

If you dig through the guys listings you will see he bought a 25+ton out of NY state dot scrap. Me thinks he bout the DOT rubbish and then trying to resell for profit....

You would have to scale ya rig at the local truck stop.

Just go to any local grain elevator, they all have certified scales; some charge a few dollars to weigh others don't.

Most larger truck stops have certified scales also, you have to pay to use them but its not that much. If I was going to do this deal I would light weigh first, go get loaded and then get heavy weight. If there wasn't enough weight, go back and get more or get some money back. He can't dispute a certified weight ticket. Any way, its to far away so I won't have to worry about it.

This is absolutely correct. A weigh ticket from a certified Cat Scale (which you'll find at your Petro, Flying J, TA, etc. truckstops) will hold up in any court of law.
