Just for general knowledge, on a scale of 1-10, chromium has a hardness of about 9. Stainless steel is about 6.

Even though thousands of tons of chromium are mined each year, it is not transported as a metal, it is transported as a chromic acid, then used to elctroplate other metals. It is rare to find a solid lump of chromium, although you can find it plated onto car bumpers and grilles, and in a lot of the hand tools you use every day.

A bit of fun, and just for the record, I'm definately not a tranny

    Chromium

A chromium star, of course. They are cheaper than gold, but they are very twinkly.

It's mainly used for plating other metals and in the production of stainless steel. If you scrap 18/8 stainless, the 18 refers to 18% chromium, and the 8 as 8% nickel. 18/10 is the same amount of chromium, but 10% nickel.
