    Yes they really are radioactive along with MANY of your other foods, trash can and even your own body MAKES radiation to some point!     I can not go into to much details on nuclear power plants and how they are built and how they work but what I can tell you is this.

    The power plant is build 3 times. In short this means that...well...lets make this simple

    You have one light bulb with one wire.

    the power plant will have 3 light bulbs and each light bulb will have 3 wires. Its build on a redundant system for safety so if any one item failed...they have 2 more of said item...and 2 more power lines going to it. So, all pumps..they have three of them on three power lines are not connected together. I hope ya'll understand because its hard to explain something short...that you just have so much info on.
