How poorly the search function on this forum works

I use 'advanced search', put in the keyword I'm looking for and select 'search titles only' then search. Works for me pretty well.

On another note, if everyone used tags and more descriptive titles for their threads, the search function would actually be much easier to use. I may actually make a thread about this specifically.

That would help a lot.

Probably the bigger gripe is that whenever someone asks a question they get steamrolled by the "use the search function" brigade as if that hadn't been tried.

Maybe it is just a philosophical difference but I am member on several forums and have never seen people react to questions the way they do here. I see that there is a page here for the specific purpose of asking questions and it happens there as well. Just seems rude to me.
