My buddy has one. Do not buy it unless you plan to beef your box up. Under heavy load it will bend the corner of your pickup box.

If you got a piece of 1/4 then you will be fine. Lay the 1'/4 steel plate across from in back of the wheel wells to the tailgate from side to side. Then bolt that winch to the plate. This way the weight is distributed evenly across the box and wont bend your box. Also the extra 100lbs or so 1/4 plate will help with traction in snow.

You really dont need it though. I have gotten 1000 lb cast iron pumps, saws, etc in the back of my truck with ease. If you dont mind if the front of your box gets bent, then do this. Wrap a chain around the front of you box in between the cab and the box to the frame. Then hook your chain to the frame. Now hook a come along or hand winch to the chain. Position the item with a skid or some black plate and start cranking. Should pull it up with ease.

I bent my box more than once but I even got heavy cast iron restaurant stoves in the back of my truck by myself with this method.....
