Hey IMG , I have one of these cranes and its very handy. I had it in my old powerwagon until recently now I'm building a receiver hitch mounting system for my new truck so that I don't have to drill the bed. I may put a small electric winch on it while I'm at it. Bigjoshl

Wow, I would really want one if I had a truck. It's very cool. Thanks for sharing.

There must be more pieces than the picture shows..it says it can extent to almost 60ft?

Definitely not bad. Would come in handy for me on a few things. Will pick one up when I head down next time.

Get this 1/2 ton capacity pickup truck crane with cable winch that extends 25 ft.
Here's what's marked on it, I think their talking about cable length. I like the looks of this one for $89.00

My buddy has one. Do not buy it unless you plan to beef your box up. Under heavy load it will bend the corner of your pickup box.

If you got a piece of 1/4 then you will be fine. Lay the 1'/4 steel plate across from in back of the wheel wells to the tailgate from side to side. Then bolt that winch to the plate. This way the weight is distributed evenly across the box and wont bend your box. Also the extra 100lbs or so 1/4 plate will help with traction in snow.

You really dont need it though. I have gotten 1000 lb cast iron pumps, saws, etc in the back of my truck with ease. If you dont mind if the front of your box gets bent, then do this. Wrap a chain around the front of you box in between the cab and the box to the frame. Then hook your chain to the frame. Now hook a come along or hand winch to the chain. Position the item with a skid or some black plate and start cranking. Should pull it up with ease.

I bent my box more than once but I even got heavy cast iron restaurant stoves in the back of my truck by myself with this method.....

I have been using a 4 door dump truck for my hauling (its my Dads) We have been talking about ways to make it easier for us to load things into the truck. He is 73 yrs old and little weak me make it a challenge for us. Plus those dump trucks set up higher then an average truck ( I believe). He has mentioned also putting a chain on the frame and an electric winch to load with the bed in an upright position. He does like the crain idea for when I get my own truck. Hope I can this year. Needs to be 4 door and very roomy for my girls and me.

If you got a dump truck then its even easier. Should be a lip that goes over the top of the cab from the box. Its there to protect the cab from loading. Bolt a winch there and then run the cable to the item. Use some sort of ramps and your done.. No fuss, no might..lol.

Like I told Hoss on Monday when I helped haul TV's I am old and lazy. If I can get a machine to do it, I will.

    And I found it.

You guys arent going to believe this, but I just got one for free. I responded to a CL post for free scrap metal. I showed up and he had a washer,bike,6 batteries,a weight machine ,garage door and this big ass bumper hoist. I didnt even know what it was at first...you actually replace your bumper with iy. He said it works,I havent had a chance to play with it yet. Ill post a pic when I get the chance.
