    Wikipedia blackout

Wikipedia is blacking out its English version for 24 hours in protest of SOPA and PIPA.
Google is protesting by covering its name with a black banner.

I like it. Definitely send a message. Craigslist is showing it's disdain with it also.

Yea I have been drumming on this for a few a good bit...I heard about it and I turned red and thought it was a joke...until I read the bill...in short...its not good..all sites unless you are some huge player....will get pushed out big time...even GOOGLE who is a BIG site (the top site of all sites) dose not want this bill.

They have nothing to worry about so to say due to there size and there #1 rating...but they even see how damaging it would be...the sites that will "take" over the web wont be good and just kill the whole thing..

I have voted and called on this subject a few times.....

Winter gets me down as well Scapette. I'm in Michigan and hate the grey days. I try to use the natural light bulbs in my house. They are a little more expensive but well worth it in my opinion. Hang in there! Winter will be over soon enough.

Thanks, erg. I tried those bulbs, but they gave me a headache! I'm just surrounding myself with photos of lush greenery and flowers and sunshine.

ask google how it worked out for them in china. the size of the company did not matter.

these politicians are just following the examples that have been set in the past.

when you allow censorship against one you have effectively allowed yourself to be censored.

many in this country would silence anyone who has views they disagree with.

these bills are designed to do that.

some of those that thought they supported censorship in the past, have just now realised that they are on that list of to be censored.

SOPA & PIPA do not represent freedom. if they pass, many of these forums will be on the banned list.

it is a bit tough to stand on the trampled rights of others and demand those same rights for yourself.

the supporters of these 2 bills have insinuated that their opponents hate america and support terrorism.

it is amusingly ironic that the opponents of these bills now seek the support of those they have made the same claims against in the past.

Did you see some of the supporters of this, I'm going to file an official complaint with my local Walmart, and maybe even boycott them.

Google vs. Time Warner - at least the big companies are fighting each other for a change instead of only using their power and influence to screw the public.

What country do you think we live in MDG? This isn't China, shutting down the net would interfere with the flow of campaign contributions!

they would leave the net open. just restrict who could play on it. i am purty sure that we would be on that restricted list. i don't think they like the irish penchant of stating an opinion.

I don't know what the "government" believes they will accomplish, except taking the debt that the US has already, and putting it into the ZILLIONS range!

I'm entirely against this SOPA bill.

Everyone has the right to contact their local representatives and put forth their opinion for consideration.

    Go here, http://www.contactingthecongress.org/

Click your state or enter your zip code and you'll get the phone numbers for whom you need to reach. Call and give them your name, they'll ask you for your address or city/state, and tell them you oppose the bill. They'll take into consideration each and every comment they get about it. It only takes a minute.

News reports tonight indicate that the bills are shelved for the time being due to the wave of protests led by Wikipedia, CL,Google and Facebook. Power to the people! And to the big media companies that didn't like the bills either!
