Yeah some stuff on there you can make some money but not alot. Most of the time is averages out to be like $11-$13 a hour or so.
skylinejackjr you may be old fashioned but there are some things that you just cant be old fashioned about and a gps is one of them. I mean you just cant beat a gps because it saves you TIME and MONEY, but i know that you already have plenty of time and money. Im pretty sure you have never used a gps or if you did it was a bad first experience.

Ok. It's just that I've never heard of the transportation industry figuring an hourly rate. It's always by the mile - pickup to dropoff. Then there is fuel surcharge; loading and unloading charge.
Anytime I've tried it for cross country hauls I get pretty high prices from other brokers/shipping companies. I think a lot of them are just "highballing" customers to see if they get a bite.
I used to have a good go-to transport broker for cars but he turned into a lying little POS so that one's out.
Never thought about trying it locally for smaller jobs though.
Plenty of time? Depends on what the Big Man upstairs has in mind. Plenty of money? My business. You're pretty sure I've never used a gps? You think I may have had a bad first experience? Wrong and wrong. You really don't know me at all.
To tell you the truth I have one in my truck right now. And I use for certain subdivisions I may not know that well. Just like I use my Samsung Captivate touch screen phone. Complete with texting, camera, video, and a gps. I even know how to operate my ATT Uverse T.V. I know how to use the Multiview and how to record shows and set favorite channel lists and all that techy stuff. And I can use this computer. Internet and all. Why heck, thanks to this forum I even know how break em down.
So, I'm not really technologically disadvantaged. Far from it. Thing is I was also a trucker for dam near 20 years. And during that time I used a Rand McNally Road Atlas. It never failed me. I'd be willing to bet my pile of prepared iron right now that if we both made the same 2000 mile cross country trip I'd plan a more efficient and safe trip. And I'd arrive quicker using my road atlas than you would using your gps.
You see, I already spent my 6 hours plus sharpening my axe. The old fashioned way.
LOL you sure you know how to use this here interweb thingiemajigger?
I don't want to be that goof ball that looks like he's talking to himself, when in reality I'm arguing with the GPS.

Last winter I did a little road trip from Toronto to Pittsburgh with a couple friends. Very simple route from what I mapped out before we took off. My friend brought along his GPS, I thought it was a good idea, little extra backup and could be useful if we decide to make a detour or something. Anyways we were cruising along I90 on our way to take I79 south. Suddenly the lady on the GPS started yelling at me to get off I90, I was confused as the move made no sense but of course my two buddies sided with the GPS so now I had 3 people yelling at me get off the highway lol. Long story short the GPS lead me all over upstate New York, eventually getting me to I79. It ended up being about a 3 hour side trip. If the GPS was mine and not my friends it would have without a doubt been tossed out the window.
I won a GPS from a charity raffle about 6 months ago. It has been sitting in the centre console of my truck ever since, has yet to be used.
