    Tradgedy close to my home...

On Friday, about 3 blocks away from my house, on my street, a man shot and killed his wife, 14 year old daughter, and 10 year old son before killing himself.

I live in an area where nothing like this happens. There are shootings, usually stemming from drunken arguments, but nothing to this degree. I didn't know the family at all, but it's still such a sad situation, with no answer as to why it happened. I felt the need to share with the SMF community partially because I don't understand how someone could do this to their family, and partially because for anyone who may have this cross their mind should think of the impact, not just on their family but on people they don't even know (and no, I'm not calling everyone crazy, but really, you never know what may happen.)

It is very hard to process such dreadful things. Quite possibly mental illness, substance abuse, financial desperation or all of the above were factors. You never know what goes on in someone else's head or behind closed doors. It is certainly very sad and jarring.

God Bless them all. Some people cannot take the negative things in life that happen, unfortunately.

A similar thing happened back where we moved from just a couple of montha ago. Weird part is, it was the woman that did the shooting of the boyfriend her 2 children and then herself.

Can't wrap my head around this kind of stuff at all. It makes no sense and to try and make sense of it makes even less sense.

Some parts of our society have just lost any hope for themselves or their children. I see how a family can get totally overwhelmed by the circumstances of life. In my mind these are warning signs that we must strengthen our interactions within our community. Our world is still what me make of it, despite the numerous obstacles. Lets keep our eyes open in our neighborhoods offer encouragement and a kind word..it can turn a bad around fast!!
