    Any other preppers out there?

So i watched the "doomsday preppers" show tonight. Thought id ask here if any of yall were preppers?

I am. My dad and i have been preppers since ever since i can remember. Have a stock of food, weapons, ammo, run-rucks, and a retro fitted 4 wheel drive vehicle to GTFO if needed, to a undisclosed place.

Random, i know. But hell, why not.

Good thought in theory. But when everyone runs for the hills, everyone will start killin everything that moves. Give it a month and nobody will have anything to eat.

I had a small stash of weapons and ammo. Had to sell some of it to pay bills, of which I have regretted ever since. Still have a few firearms and ammo.

    What is a run ruck(s)?

A run-ruck is a ruck (bag) that you can grab at a moments notice and GTFO. It should have everything you'd need to survive for about 72 hours. Myself, mine has enough to last me 4-6 months.

God bless rednecks lol...as for myself, I don't go to such lenghts...like you said, people will kill everything that moves, so why move right away? I'd rather stay in my home, eat the food I have, and let stuff calm down for a couple days, THEN start moving....everyones going to be going ape**** at first, I figure it's better to hide. Theres only one straight enterance to my house, so fending that off shouldn't be to terrible.

To think that we even would have to consider prepping for something to that effect is sad...

Before I got back into scrap last year I also started preparing. Like my wife says, who knows what we're preparing for, but dang near any disaster we're ready for. We're still in our condo, so we where limited on space when I started. So we decided to take out a coat closet. I turned that into a pantry. We fully stock it, but also use the food in it, and rotate the stocked supplies as needed. My wife wasn't keen about having guns in the condo, but we ended up getting an under bed safe.

I am a selective prepper. Only fun things like tools and guns, I know I should focus on stuff like food, meds, etc. but sadly, not as interesting.

I found this the other day. it is quite compelling. It is a realworld SHTF situation from a guy in serbia in the nineties. He was in a city under siege for over a year. I think his SHTF experience is different than many of ours especially those of us in rural areas, but there are some really good nuggets of info there.

    take a look if interested:

All I have to say....I am a born and lived in texas....I have my fair share of guns and ammo...I know how to hunt and I am good at finding food/water. I am a pretty good shot. So I think I would do ok as I would not stay in the city but get out in the open.

Generator makes to much noise in a time where you need to be hidden. Best to learn how to live with out the sound markers.
