    Made in P.R.C.

I take the residents to the dollar store once a month for one of our shopping trips. Today was the day.

I amuse myself by checking to see where everything is made. Of course most of it is made in China. SOME of the food products are made in the U.S.A.

I saw a new candy item on the shelf. It said liquid taffy. It was in a clear tube. I picked it up and it said made in P.R.C.

I assume that this means People's Republic of China. Are they trying to throw people off the trail?

Actually PRC means Taiwan. I think so anyway. Generally speaking, stuff from Taiwan will be better made, as it has a very long relationship of production with the West.

"Taiwan, officially the Republic of China, is a state in East Asia. Originally based in mainland China, the Republic of China now governs the island of Taiwan, which makes up over 99% of its territory..."

As I remember Chung Ki Shek retreated there after he lost to the communinst forces under Mao. China had no way to get to the island, but still claims it as their territory. Disputes between the two nations are frequent...

PRC means People's Republic of China and is the China that everyone of us known of.. Republic of China which is ROC is the one governing Taiwan. China claims Taiwan as part of their territory but does not actually govern it...

Product made in P.R.C should normally means coming from China itself... Most product that is made in taiwan will show "Made in Taiwan" instead of PRC or Made in China...

Haha... Be glad that what you found is only their stuff on the shelf... My Country, govt policy to fight low birth rate, are flooded with their products and people...

I tend to think along the same lines, ...I'm Canadian, and try to buy from North American sources if I can, ...my recent Milwaukee cordless tools are unfortunately made in China as are most (if not all) cordless tools these days. Then I look at my old Super Sawsall, ...and made in USA, ... I would bet that any of my old tools made in NA or Europe will outlast any recent tools made in China. I'm not intending on dissing that country as they seem to be in an industrial evolution and eventually their products might just get better, ...metallurgy wise, as they (or taiwan) has been doing electronics for many years.
