You will have to have a license to buy a hose. I like how the reporter suggests getting a locking cap like no one ever thought of that.

Trap door on the van is pretty clever. I find it funny how the media helps to spread ideas like this, isn't there a law against that?

"Passed a law where you must pay before going to the pump". LOL. Yeah, that will stop the thieves. Although every pump I have ever been to is pay inside or use a card at the pump.

The van parked over the tank door is a bit obvious. A story I read awhile back a guy had a truck and cargo trailer. With the truck positioned at the pump and trailer over the tank, no one caught on for awhile. Never looked at a tank door, but maybe it needs a lock too.

Oh crap, did I give a lurker an idea?

As for locking caps, like MDG said, punch the tank or I have heard of people cutting the hose and siphoning it out.

haha PTS, are you being serious or sarcastic? I can't tell.

Around me they steal Diesel. Leave some heavy equipment parked out at your job site or logging acreage and you can almost guarantee that you will come back the next day to empty tanks.
