This 2011 Tsunami video spins me into a disorienting cloud of silence and reflection. The terror builds so gradually -- starting with a mild goodness gracious, the sequence of images relentlessly pushes other emotions out of my mind until, by the end, I'm cornered and whispering: Sweet Jesus have mercy.
As shocking and terrible as these videos are, they always bring me back Carlin's simple, breathtaking, and somehow strangely zen-like peaceful conclusion: Stop worrying, we're only here for the plastic. It's probably far too glib, but somehow it makes life and all its tragedies somewhat more bearable.
