500 million asof 6 o'clock news.....I wouldn't mind splitting it with a few people on here.

Even the 25 or so people that just matched the first 5 numbers got around 250,000 ea. Not bad.

I don't understand why any of you would think that you had a chance.
How can you possibly win without a ticket?
I'm pretty sure my wife has bought all there is to buy.

If the odds of winning the mega millions is 1 in 176,000,000 why even bother? I pulled this from a website news story
    What are the odds?

Odds of winning the estimated $500 million Mega Millions jackpot: 176 million to 1

    — Odds of injury from fireworks: 19,556 to 1

    — Odds of injury from shaving: 6,585 to 1

    — Odds of drowning in a bathtub: 685,000 to 1

    — Odds of being killed on a 5-mile bus trip: 500,000,000 to 1

    — Odds of being killed sometime in the next year in any sort of transportation accident: 77 to 1

    — Odds of being killed in any sort of non-transportation accident: 69 to 1

    — Odds of being struck by lightning: 576,000 to 1

    — Odds of being killed by lightning: 2,320,000 to 1

    — Odds of being murdered: 18,000 to 1

    — Odds of getting away with murder: 2 to 1

    — Odds of being audited by the IRS: 175 to 1

    — Odds of having your identity stolen: 200 to 1

    — Odds of dating a millionaire: 215 to 1

    — Odds of finding out your child is a genius: 250 to 1

    — Odds of getting a royal flush in poker on first five cards dealt: 649,740 to 1

    — Odds of becoming a saint: 20,000,000 to 1

    — Odds of a meteor landing on your house: 182,138,880,000,000 to 1

    — Odds of picking a winning bracket in the NCAA tournament using a coin: 100,000,000,000,000,000,000 to 1

Cuz it's the easiest way to turn $1 into $500,000,000. Just buy a ticket... it's that easy. Yes! I got this in the bag.

from the durango bill site in my above post. Is intersesting. He points out that if you drive 1 mile to a store to buy a lottery ticket and 1 mile back, you are 6 times more likely to be killed buying your lottery ticket than you do of winning. corrolaries - if everyone on average drives 2 miles round trip to buy their ticket, this lottery drawing will kill 6 people.

I never ever play the lottery. Figure I work to hard for my money, but for some reason(had extra cash in the pocket) I bought $15 worth. I joke about the fact that if I win I'd quit my real job, but I'd keep on scrappin. Really like my boss.

Stopped at the local c. store where my wife works today. Had about 800 or so folks standing in line to buy lotto tickets. Had 2 bucks cash in my pocket. Figured what the heck. Then them ol hunger pangs hit. Seen the Nachos cost 2 bucks. Well, so much for my chances at winning this lotto.

This guy won Idaho's largest lottery back in 2005.

Star, Idaho is about 20 minutes from me.

Well i didn't hit it. BUT...a winning ticket was sold less than 20 minutes from my house.

My mother seems to think it is a lady she works with because she has tried to call her a few times and nothing. It is cool when it hits close to home though.

They got only 3 winners; 1 in Kansas, 1 in southern Illinois, and 1 out east somewhere. I missed the last state on the news.
