Cool OK BOYS...Let's hear about your BIG ONE!!!

I was watching a show called MegaBreakdown. The guys on this show were scrappin locomotives and 747 Jet Aeroplanes. This was serious stuff for serious dollars. So what is the biggest thing you've scrapped. And remember...Size Does Matter!!!

So I'm guessing the trailer had no use for you as storage.

No you would not, there's a reason this type of equipment is scrapped. It's usually so worn out it's more economical to buy a good 2nd hand or newer model.

Years back a guy gave me an old Bucyrus steam shovel to scrap out, the boiler was toast but they still ran the shovel from a large air compressor. To the point the shovel worked a road down to the river bank near Boston Bar B.C, where they had a small gold claim.

The compressor and shovel were sperated for the winter then the road washed out, that crane is still sitting where it last worked. I never did retreive it for scrap as it would have cost more to rebuild the road than the scrap was worth.

I've since offered the shovel to seveal groups interested in restoring the shovel but no one has taken it to task to get it out of its current locaton.

The Bucyrus I wrecked out had a Cummins KT450 that netted me $15,000.00.

People dont call you, you find this type of equipment then sell yourself and your expertese to the owner. Usually this big stuff goes cheap becasue of the cost to dismantle and remove it.

The owners have no further use of it an would prefer to have it removed cheapest possible way and you coiuld be that man.

Large equiment is often bought at auction already two thirds worn out for use on a specific job and when the guys are finished that job usually the machine is about done as well - worn out beyound redemption.

This is why I love big iron.

@Ladyscrappers and all other women on forum. No offence intended, I thought that if I asked the girls to show their big one, I would get a virtual smack in the mouth!!! I was just trying to be silly not sexist.

If that barge was used in salt water, think I would have passed on it.

    The one that went great
160,000 lbs. of #2 insulated copper wire

The ones that could have changed it all:

US Treasury MONEY PLATES "Bragging rights"

3,000,000 of #1 500 MCM lost it for a nickel right just before copper was high after copper went crazy high. "Money Money Money"

500 Tons of 304 from a nuclear plant "Its complicated but would have made a pretty penny"
