first computer bought was an AMD 386 clone with 120 MB HD $2700
first computer used in school involved punch cards. I had a big stack of them. Don't know what the computer was, it was in a different building on campus.
first computer used at work was at DEC MicroVax, I'm thinking PDP-11 but not sure about that at all.

First computer was a Mac LC II... It cost so much (at the time), I could never bring myself to get rid of it.

My first one was an old Amstrad laptop. I bought it at a pawnshop for $100; so, I'm not sure when it was made. Not sure what the memory was; but, it wasn't much. Instead of a hard drive, it had 2 floppy drives (can't remember if they were 5 1/4 or 3 1/2), one of which had to have a Windows 3.1 OS disk in it for it to run. It seems like I could take the Win3.1 disk out after it loaded; and, I could stick other disks in to use other programs; then, I could save my work to a blank floppy in the other drive slot. It's still buried out in one of my storage trailers. Maybe it's time to dig it out, dust it off, and see what it would bring on ebay...
Finally, I upgraded to a 386 desktop. (Still running Win3.1.) I think it had 1 or 2 megs of ram; and, a 10 meg hard drive. I thought I was really "moving up" when I upgraded it to 4 megs of memory and a 40 meg hard drive! It turned into a 486 after I fried the motherboard by trying to upgrade the modem without taking my shoes off first. :o
