New guy here, saying hello and a question

Hey everyone just saying hello and looking forward to contrubiting to the site. Couple questions for the copper guys, i work in the arborculture field and every now and again we have to do a removal of a tree that has lighting protection and that is all copper (it is nice but hate to see the tree go) my question is how do i determine what kind of copper is it? also because a lot of the time it has been on a large tree for a while is it worth trying to clean in? Welcome to the forum. I am "assuming" the copper on the tree is thick solid or stranded wire. If it is solid copper wire and the diameter is as thick as a no 2 pencil lead it should pass as #1 copper at your yard. If it is stranded then it will go as #2. As far as cleaning just get the dirt vegtable matter off and you should be good to go. Each yard can have its own standards for the classification so you may need to visit several until you are happy with one.

Has the tree grown around the copper line?

If the copper is embedded into the tree it might be a trick to reclaim the copper.

I always like pictures to tell the story. If you can take some pictures of the copper the next time you come across a tree your cutting down and post them here it would really help us in telling you what kind of copper you have.

I'd assume you would have a bunch of #2 copper, in the best case #1 simple as that so look at those prices they usually differ by .10-.30/lb
