2TB hard drives

I picked up some nice things out there today and was wondering about some hard drives I found.
they are external drives, as in they have an outer casing they sit in.
2.0TB Western Digital Caviar Green.
what do you think, would these have anything more then say a 60GB hard drive has?
what would be different? they feel heavier then normal,

but they all seem to of had a whack maybe with a hammer on the back where the board is, more like a dent so I don't think they would be worth trying to sell, see the screw on the right and the little crack?

was thinking maybe there's a component inside that might be special?

a terabyte is 1024 Gig
The whack is probably intentional to destroy the drive's data.

I rather try to see if they work 2tb internal drives are super nice. I know i just about filled up my first tb this year.

DONT SCRAP IT! Test it and see if it works. If it does, sell on craigslist or even ebay.

2tb hard drives of any kind, are in good demand!

I think you'll find that "whack" was a well placed blow to the drives internal motor, rendering it entirely useless

To try and answer your question, I think you'll find 1 or 2 extra platters inside but being newer they might be glass platters, like Olddude was talking about awhile back.

If they Work Ill buy em!

My thoughts exactly Bear. I clicked on the thread initially to tell him "^%*$ NO, don't scrap 'em". LOL. Until he pointed out the damage. Certainly worth trying out to see if they work, but a shame they didn't just do a multi wipe to overwrite the data. You could sell those all day long on ebay. Note to others, if you come across any working TB externals, sell!

I scrapped one and did a small hard drive to compare.
not sure of the size of the other h/d but that had just one thin platinum disk and 1 magnet and the board.
the 2t h/d had 4 really thick platinum disks, 2 magnets and a 2 piece board, it weighed about 3 times as much
and the discs were at least 3 times as thick.
