mixed ceramic cpu lot
I sold a ceramic cpu lot on ebay. The lot consisted of 6 pounds of pinless ceramic and 5 pounds with pins. It sold for $500. Well it turns out that the buyer was not pleased with the gold yield of the lot. "Sir, because of those worthless SUN Ultra Sparc CPU's in the lot, which are comprising about 60% of it, the refined value of precious metals is $550 about, which is around 10.5 g of 24K Au. For the price I paid it is better to return these back to you because the refining for such a base price is worthless. " So i had to refund $150 to him as requested. The lot shouldve sold for $260. I still netted $28 per pound for the lot. Obviously i know the pinless ceramic are worth less than $10 per pound. Its just amazing how other people have no clue. I hate preying on other peoples lack of knowledge but the money is just too tempting. Im just curious abot other peoples experiences and how they handle this. In the end both the buyer and I were satisfied. The buyer got $550 in gold out of $350 in scrap, i got my pinless ceramic sold.

Too many people out there renig on a deal. And as an online seller in order to keep an outstanding account i have to accommodate these people. But i always blacklist them afterwards. I go by the addage: Burn me once shame on you, burn me twice shame on me. Buyers cant blacklist sellers though =).

I keep away from ebay for reasons like that.

this is also the reason i shy from ebay unless they are big ticket items.
i sold a wireless solution from an old client 8 ap's and 1 central control base station. once the guy received the parts he said that he mistakenly bought the wrong one. he needed 12 base stations for his client and this one was a max of 8. the next version up allowed for up to 16. he asked if he could return it.
i kindly pointed him to the part of the auction "no returns accepted"
never heard from him again.
