Looking for some suggestions on how you would calculate an offer price for someone who had multiple, mixed brand, gaming consoles for sale (say, about 20). The seller has little info on the systems, except that they are whole, but are all non-functioning in one way or another. Do you have any price limits that you won't go over for particular systems?
Just came across an original Nintendo...can get it working but can't bring myself to scrap it.
I'm curious too. I've been given a number of consoles in all different condition(s). It's probably not worth it to buy cords to test them if only worth a few bucks. I have sold a couple on ebay and scrapped others that were tore up. If anyone knows of a buyer that will take them and pay according to condition I would be interested. I had an original Atari I sold which brought less than I thought, but have sold a Super Nintendo and games for big $$. Currently I've got a couple xbox 360 units sitting around that I need to do something with.
I know mike the scrapper either did or is going to do a video on scrapping an old Xbox. Any older game systems N64 and older I would check eBay. Even not working they may be worth more than scrap value.

They are worth money i am sure. lots of people with money who want toys they had as kids.
Anybody consider taking them someplace like GameStop and asking for an opinion?
I use to run a game store back in the day. Take your stuff to gamestop as a last resort or if you hate ebay. After reading this post I may have to get back into selling video game stuff on ebay myself.

I dont think gamestop is buying anything pre xbox 1 and ps2 right now. There are other gamestores out there that still deal in the vintage though. There are a couple here in denver. Ebay still your best bet though. As far as the systems go no store is going to buy them unless they power on unless that store also repairs them. There are a couple of them here in denver as well. Like an xbox 360 with RROD or bad drive can fetch about $20 to $30 here in denver. Cost about $50 to fix then can be resold for $120-150. But thats a complete syetem not just the box.Quote:

The game carts I love, I have a gamebit, open them up clean the contacts, test them and away they go. We love gaming here so this isn't much work for us, YMMV.
Xbox 360's sell for parts, check for stupid stuff though if you get one that doesn't power up. Frequent issue is a bad USB port with the pins touching each other and shorting out from the kids jamming the controllers in them the wrong way, bend the pins so they aren't touching tape over the port. (I have one of those freebies in the living room that will be seeing a round of black ops 2 later:cool:).
i was going to say watch out for these bc they will start up and play fine on a quick test but if you dont let it run for a couple hours you are not going to get a proper "test." they overheat and then stop working. sold one w/out knowing anything about this after a quick test. 1st thing i ever sold that came back and i felt bad for disappointing someone. I used to sell video games/systems at flea markets. Many are not worth the effort to repair and then assemble the needed power/video cords and controlers. If you get enough of them then it becomes worth the effort. I would say the ps2 and original xbox systems are marginal. The good news is the ps2 has a mother board quality board in them as does the old xbox. The old xbox also has a hard drive in them so scraping can be done.
The older systems: nintendo(NES), super nintendo(SNES), nintendo 64 are all systems still worthy of reselling and it doesn't take a lot of money to get the materials to test them. The big money for me has been the game cartriges. Its like most other things it takes some study to determine the value of items. With my background if I were there looking at them I could quickly determine an offer but without knowing I would not give more than $0.50 each which would ensure a little profit if all you are going to do is scrap them.
If there are games cartriges scoop them up you never know what you might get. Also most every sports game has little to no value but even there you will find a few that do retain value. You are welcome to pm me for more info, Mike.

There are literally hundreds of $1,000+ game titles out there. Probably a dozen or so $10,000+ titles, and a handful of $25,000+ titles (I can think of 1990 Nintendo World Championships Gold Cartridge, 1991 Nintendo Campus Challenge Cartridge, Kizuna Encounter for the NEO GEO, Neo Turf Masters for the NEO GEO and Air Raid for the Atari 2600)
So DO NOT scrap video game cartridges, you never know what you have.

my trick is if its simple fix it always research everything and part out what you can for example even a recent story on yahoo but game cube cables go for $60-$150
