I've found a lot of these lately, and thought of how many I've thrown away. They're mostly on brown boards, found in printers, copiers, VCRs, etc, etc, etc. Most I've seen are on brown boards, but, if you pop the top off of the push button, there's a little springy insert, that's usually gold on both sides. Are these actually gold? or just the older ones?

did you test it for gold, it looks like yellow brass
gold looks like yellow brass to me. Has anyone else ever looked inside these things? The one pictured is from an early 90s dot matrix printer board. Not a great catch actually, on the photo. Lots of old phone buttons, etc, were gold, just not sure about these
what you got there is worth about a quarter from what I can tell!
Seriously, I would like to know because I have more of these boards than I want to think about. I'm not wanting to have them put in with shred because of all the chips on board that dont belong in a landfill, and doesnt pay to ship. Kinda stuck at the moment without direction and if it has gold value that might make it more feasible to ship. Thanks for the post!
So your saying there are no buyer in Atlanta that take low grade boards? If not there is nobody really recycling electronics there. Build it they will come.Quote:

It may have been a refiner, but I'd expect they're still around there
Some of the little round button springs are gold plated. Also, if you find red dip switches, they will have a tiny gold plated ball inside each switch.

You have a 170 Ohm resistor there and a .37pF Capacitor aswell as a Light Emitting Diode. You can scrap them for more!!!

Just wanted to pull this thread back up and get some more feedback on it. I'm still wondering about those little boogers. I have a gallon ziplock bag full and wondering if they are even worth pulling off the boards. I have half truckload of low grade boards imma gonna take to yard soon, and need to know if I should go through and pull them off and continue to save them or leave them on.Quote:
