No kidding. I'd never seen that much for an angle grinder, either. But, I've been looking into getting an air-powered angle grinder and I found one - the Dynabrade 50348 Db 50348 Right Angle Grinder. Price - ON SALE - is $1098.27.

Dammm I just got an angle grinder for free just for getting a Ryobi Super Combo Kit for $149.99 And it works excellent and its helping me get that metal in my truck fast with the help of a recipricating saw thats included in the combo kit! You can get this deal at Homedepot
Mick, what's the difference in quality between air powered and electric angle grinders? I presume they come both ways.
I haven't really been able to tell. I'm thinking about an air powered one to see if it'd save any on the electric bill. My electric is big, heavy, pulls a lot of electricity and is really over-kill for stuff like cutting aluminum sheet and copper tubes. But that $1000 grinder MUST be better quality. The only claim I could tell from the site is supposedly less vibration. I might opt for one under $100 just to see how it does.
Will the air compressor use less electricity then the grinder?
My compressor pulls more then my grinder.

No. Still using my big angle grinder. Have a Milwaukee Sawzall I've had since before I started scrapping. My wife got it for me one Christmas. I'd never even thought of having one at that time. My son-in-law (then) had one and she said it was something I'd use. Actually, it just sat around for maybe five years before it came in handy when I started cutting heavy iron.
