ABS Module.. new goldmines?

Ok gents, I was stripping a 98 Sunfire last week, and as I pulled the Wiring Harness I saw the ABS Module right under the dash, I snatched it thinking "Hey maybe this thing is worth a bit on re-sale" Turns out 96-99 ABS Modules RE-MANUFACTURED run $277 bucks. I slapped it on Craigslist and will go fishing, just wondered if I don't sell it- is there a place to core this mutha? The place that sold the re-man ones had a $61 Core on them, if it doesn't sell, I'd sure as shoot take $61 bucks for it core $.. Anyone have any dealings with these as you have pulled cars?

I did a quick Ebay glance and they range from $5-$300 bucks- HUGE RANGE THERE!

I don't scrap vehicles but over the years I've had to purchase ABS/transmission/main computers for different vehicles. I usually pick one up off ebay because of the cost new/refurbished. Many times the price you will get will vary greatly depending on the model. I had some early 90's accords. They are known for bad transmission computers. I'm sure with other models the failure rate is lower, so the price was lower. You just have to do some research. Many times the sellers ask for the old unit back as a core, which is something to keep in mind.

The $61 core price for a sunfire abs seems way too high. Cavalier and sunfire probably use the same abs module. I sold the one out of the cavalier i processed for $40.

Thanks Phantom: I'm going to see if this thing will sell locally, I have no interest in buying a new one, I'm trying to see if maybe someone would give me core price for this if it doesn't sell as a "used part" Heck my core buyer takes rims, converters, a/c pumps, starters, rotors etc.. no one seems to take ECM's or Modules here locally where I am. If these things core out in the $50-$60 range somewhere, I'll pull them out of every vehicle I get and save them up, and ship em off.. Just trying to find a buyer if there is a market for these at all?

Also its not a core, odds are they didnt decide to part out the car because the abs went out. Odds are its a good used resalable part. The term core typically refers to a nonworking part that can be refurbished and resold, or a part that has significant scrap value.

Most core buyers will them. Prise will depend on year and model# and sell like converters, prices range from a few $ to in the hundreds.

I will have to pull apart the one I put aside to make into a hydraulic pump for a project.

Ah, is there actually Gold inside it? Everything else I pull apart seems to have gold in it these days....

Some modules have gold plated pins in the connector. Not enough gold to justify scrapping them.
