Found someone paying high prices for Core2Duo procs...what's up?

I just sent away a batch of processors to a company that says they 'repurpose' memory and processors, and averaged $5-16 per C2D processor depending on speed. I had been turning my older P4's etc in for scrap at 8.50-20 per pound, but these were a lot higher prices for the C2Duos. Just wanted to let you know that there are companies out there buying processors (as long as you take care of them and don't bend pins) for much more than scrap weight.

Price seems to be fair, I usually sell those on ebay, get about $10-20 for each. Core 2 Duo CPU's do sell easily.

I used to sell computers that otherwise would have been scrapped, to the country of Jordan. The US has a free trade agreement with Jordan so no tariffs. Recycling isn't always about breaking things down into their component parts, sometimes it's re purposing for other peoples uses.

If you have the ability to purchase computers that have been made within the last 5 years or so, you could flip them within a reasonable amount of time for a fairly decent profit.

If you have a country in mind that is of interest to you, you can contact the US Embassy in that country to find businesses that you can do business with. You should check with the US State Department before attempting to do business with any foreign companies, but with a little leg work, you can make this happen. I would suggest targeting countries that have a free trade agreement with the United States as it will bring the costs down. Also by shipping containers you will reduce the cost of shipping and make a better profit margin.

It's a little tricky when doing business abroad, you are usually dealing with financial instruments such as letter of credits, and employing contracts and agreements that are not necessary when doing business in the states. You can check with the embassies, the US State Department like I suggested above, but also you can check with the International Better Business Bureau.

I sell some computers n lots of other items to a guy that ships to the congo..they even buy mattreses, but I dont actively seek em out for the extra buck..

That would be advertising and would belong in the Buyer's and Seller's forum.

Core 2 duos sell so easily on ebay, why re-sell to someone else and take less profit? List it as untested part put it in a flate rate bubble envelope wrapped in foam/papertowel/etc. If the processor looks good it probably is good there are no pins to bend etc.

I'm pretty sure about 90% of everyone I compete against for ewaste does something similar to this.

$5 for c2d's is really low, im getting $10 on the bottom of the barrel ones

heres what my buyer is paying, these are not my prices or an advertisment for anyone, excuse the quantities theyre from the last shipment i sent:

Do you have to test them to make sure they are working before your buyer pays that price?

To the rest of the forum. I am working on a test bench to test these CPU's and will be adding them to my better than scrap value items in the near future. Dont think ill be able to offer the prices listed above but will be better than scrap value.

Gotta offer good pricing to be competitive, i already do on these. I also like pentium 4's 640 and higher.

My buyer, tests them and pays for any nonworking ones recieved at scrap value. I clean them, then i inspect them, then i sort thems in trays. At that point they are ready to be shipped. Ive never had a cpu returned or paid as scrap that has passed visual inspection, im not ruling it out though as its still a possibility. Need any info on cpus pm me, i like to collect them also.
