good day so far

ive had a great day. went to Missouri to pick up a car, on the way I got a call from Libertytowing and we probably talked for half an hour talking about the ups and downs and ins and outs of car hauling and scrapping. he also poked fun at some of my southern sayings but that aside he seems to be a super smart guy on the phone and has his stuff together. picked up the car and on the way back stopped at the crawdad place, made some phone calls on the car and I got it sold after this im on my way to deliver it. hope everyone elses day is going well also

We got over 6'' of snow here today Cory and I'm over the whole we need the moisture thing by now. I think that makes it about 30" now in the past 4-5 weeks.

Uuummmmm, mud bugs. I need to find some here in NC.


Cory, I'm originally from south eastern Oklahoma but spent the last 13 years in Jersey, they didn't know what to think about how I talked and some of the sayings I have.
Some people would ask where I was from and I would always say New York City, that really made them think.

They say it in Indiana as well. I respond "Yes Pens do indeed have ink in them" It is because "Pin" and "Pen" when said in that southern accent sound exactly the same.. He He!

I remember my first visit to the grocery store when I moved to Indiana in 98.. Lady said "You want your pop in a sack?" I said "Yes I'd like my soda in a bag please" :-)

That saying drive"s me absolutely up the wall you don"t ask to use a lead pencil or a wax crayon so why say pass me a ink pen ARRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH

Well, my Dad actually does say "lead pencil" every time...lol. I've never heard wax crayon, but they are called "color crayons" around here. Ink pens are standard here also.

Ive heard lead pencil here also, ive heard crayons called colors, ive heard sodas and pops my whole life, but I call it a coke whether its a dr pepper or a mountain dew, every now and then ill slip and say soda, you guys would kill to hear my dad, winder instead of window, zinc instead of sink, warsh instead of wash the list goes on and on

God Cory now i think your just doin it to aggrivate me

I knew it as Pop growing up...and Magic Marker comes to mind as well.

My wife when I met her (Native Hoosier) used to say at at resturant "I'd Like a Coke" The waiter or waitress would respond "What Kind?" Then she would say "Sprite" I told her if she goes back home with me to Upstate NY, if she orders a "Coke" she will be served a brown carbonated beverage! :-)

Something to keep in mind; my dad also asks for a lead pencil. Working most of his life in construction, around the jobsite you used lead pencils and grease pencils (those marking sticks). That carried over into life away from the jobsite as well.

My father told me about being in the Army an officer asking him "What part of Maine are you from" just by the way my father talked. He is from southern Maine and does not have the heavy Maine accent, but it was enough.
