new toys

up until this point I have been carrying the plasma cutter to the power and air as our storage container is too far from the house. I bought the cart below from harbor freight, it was kinda high $80 simple but functional.

also for the guys that use plasma cutters I bought a stand off guide for mine, it keeps your cutting tip the same distance from the metal at all times, so by accidently bumping your cut you don't wear out the tip needlessly. I mainly cut tanks so its kinda hard not to bump as they are round. it was $18 kinda pricy but I cut about 40 propane tanks and the tip still looked brand new so it looks like it will pay for itself pretty quick

what kinda tanks do you mostly cut? I have several old type propane tanks here, but I haven't really begun to consider how to go about scrapping them yet. I have considered getting the valves off of them though, and suppose that's the place to start. For cutting, the best i have is small power saws and an angle grinder

bear, we got that grill in our last cleanout, its brand new. I cut whatever tanks the yard gives me to cut, I cut mostly propane today, the one in the pic is a oxygen tank

how do you prep one up, before you put the sparks to it ?

I take off the valves and wait until I cant smell any more gas, the ones im cutting now have been there for a while, ive seen a couple people post on here their yard will take them whole, you may try that first, also if I was choosing between a grinder and a sawsall I think I would choose the grinder
