Meling / Boiling Copper Insulation

I thought about this the other day and I am trying to do some Research cause lets say I wasn't willing or didn't like the outcome after burning Insulation covered Copper. Even after cleaning it up.

But My question or asking for advice is, has anyone ever thought about melting or boiling the insulation ( PVC ) off the Copper, kinda like burning a candle. I figured if I would put the Wire into Boiling water until it would melt so I could pull the wire and hence leave the PVC behind. All without harming the Copper like burning does.

Just a Idea I had. If its not possible cool, I just thought I would ask about it.

Wish i had a good answer for you because i had the same thought about my cord ends that are accumulating. I dont want to actually burn the plastic off, just see if it can be brought to a melting point where it could be separated from the brass/copper. I think that the only way to regulate the precise temperature would take some sort of heat source like gas/electric, but then the cost would probably outweigh the return. I then thought about using the fire pit out back, but again you cant regulate it. Boiling seemed like an option, but I dont think you could reach the temperature needed to melt. Anyway, something to think about if anyone has ideas....

mighta been a good job for an old electric kiln i ran across a while back, but it was old, and heavy, and in the truck at the yard so i chunked it
