I am looking for a floor scale it must be big enough to place a normal pallet on and must weigh in 1# increments i am not sure weither i want 5,000 or 10,000 capacity also must have a digital readout, there are so many different ones out there why do some sell on ebay for 500 and then when you call a local scale dealer he wants over 1500 is there a difference and which one would you buy?

Everyone is always jumping on me for my spelling, here is my chance for payback. Palat-palate is the inside of the mouth,and by the way it is spelled p-a-l-t-a-t-e. I think the word your looking for is pallet.

I bought my scale on GovDeals. I have secured a couple others for friends also.
I bought mine and then drove 130 miles to get it. It came with a optional ramp and printout.
The scale came out of a post office they were closing. It was about a year old.
They had a phone number on the auction page and I called it and a really nice gal answered all of my question.
So, I paid $397 all together for the scale. I spent another $100.00 in fuel to go get it.
I got a 10,000 pound scale with a digital readout ($1500.00 value), the optional optional ramp ($525.00 Value),
small Dell 765 Core 2 Duo they had hooked up to it ($50.00 value) and a small label printer (value $0.00 JUNK)
The scale was hardly used. There were no signs of wear and tear. I ended up with $2000.00+ in equipment.
I am not saying this is for everyone. There are risk, as about everything you buy on GovDeals is sold "as-is".
Usually I can get a feel for the situation by calling the folks and talking to them directly.
A while back I seen another one on there at a local state prison sell for around $200.00
By the way, it said on the site that would not help load, but when I called them she said they had a forklift there to load it with.
Turns out they were really nice folks and everything went off without a hitch.
Sometimes it pays to be diligent in shopping around.
All of the yards I deal with LOVE it that my gaylords are weighed with the tare weight written on the side.
They checked my weights a few times, but do not bother now.
I have been doing allot of searching for a scale and trying to learn as much as i can about them the one thing i dont understand is some of them say not leagle for trade, does the scale need to be certified in some way? I live in Wisconsin if that makes any difference?
Only if your supposedly buying or selling with the public. If your using to ship stuff on Ebay then it needs to be close to right for the label weight.Quote:

It only takes one customer who feels their stuff weighs more than it really does to make a report on you and they'll be there.
I have bought one from ebay its a pallet scale and weight up to 5000 lbs. And there are many scale on ebay that are available in cheap rates than mine. Why not you find one there as there is variety of pallet scales available there.
