Theres this home made 26' heavy duty, 10,000lb dual axle trailer for sale but I'm not sure if thats too big to pull around for basic scrap, I only need a good sized trailer for scrap cars/trucks, but I don't know if ill find cars all that often, what do you guys think? And what size trailers do you guys use?
It will depend on your power unit (pick up) load capacity (GVW).
I got a good enough pick up to pull it, just I think 26' would be really too big to carry around everywhere looking for scrapQuote:

Well I don,t know what city you are in the United States, but if the trailer is in good shape and the price is right why not?you might be able to handle some larger jobs that would justafie the trailer.
I would think just cruising the streets that might be more than ya need, but when hauling to the yard sounds like a dandy. My personal trailer is a homebuilt 4 1/2 x 9 single axle. But i'm not hauling cars, or a lot of short iron,mostly appliances and such.
I'm also looking at this other one im considering getting so i can carry my trailer around on runs, its a 20ft heavy duty trailer, wood deck, 12,000lb rated trailer with a pintle hitch, hes asking 1300 and pretty firm on the price, but the deck needs to be replaced, im going to try to talk him down to 800 though
The first one sounds to me like it was built for tractors and construction equipment.
I use a 16ft 10,000lb trailer for cars and trucks, I've only done a few but it has been great

Right now I have a 16ft 3.5ton equipment trailer, only thing I would change is the ramps, ill be putting a more of a landscape style ramp on the back for hand carts

I'v got a 18ft, dual axle car trailer with a winch on it, and beaver tail. Wood deck. Had it custom built to haul scrap cars, but I could pretty easily make walls for it, and use it to haul other scrap. It pulls nice behind my Ram 2500 Diesel.
Works perfect for what i do, i agree with some of the other guys, 26ft may be a bit too much. I notice a bit of a jump in fuel hauling the 18ft'er empty. Unless you can get it for a steal, id maybe go with something a bit smaller. Just my .02 :)

I could not do the jobs that I do with out the equipment we are a service business you give them service they will call if you cannot do the job they will find some one who will,one of my trailers.
The 16 footer I use is my friends but he got a great deal on it. I think it was under 2 grand
Paid 1600 for mine needs tires paint and new deck after this summer, tows amazing
I think for the most part you can use a 16 footer for a lot of things, unless you plan on putting 2 cars on the trailer at the same time a 16 footer will handle what you will get, jut gotta know what you are doing
