With everything going on the last few months, I haven't been able to scrap. But, I'm back now. made a load a few days ago, of tin, but made $125 on it.
After taking down all of my escrap I have 29.38 lbs of motherboards, 3lbs of fingercards, .5lbs of gold memory, 2.85lbs of silver memory. Wondering if there is anyone local in the baton rouge, LA area that buys.
I would highly recommend looking at the buyers section before selling to anyone else. You may do well enough with usps flate rate boxes. The key is to pack them full. I you have more I would look to having one of the buyers arrange for shipping. You will find that shipping is a big factor but the prices we get from our buyers are very good and you can read up to date reviews on most of them. Best of luck, Mike.
Thanks I found quite a few buyers. Just figured I would try to find someone local first. Maybe I will start buying locally lol. No I'm not ready for that yet.

i have heard that burning off all of the plastic is a great way to save on shipping - might b a legality issue though

Its a good idea to stay healthy in this profession. Not the safest work environment, but you can't help what you love.
It's really only as unsafe as you make it. I deal with ewaste, so no burning, heating or anything of the like for me. I do deal with other forms of scrap but..hey you can get a cut anywhere, but you can take simple measures to at lest limit that also. Gloves, good work clothes, etc.
An common sense will mostly keep you healthy an whole. You know...don't go sticking your fingers in a sawz-all, or a bandsaw. ;)

Plenty of people who contract tetanus die from it. Vaccination is a routine procedure at a doctor's office.
This is where common sense would fall....step on metal, go get your shot! Every time I've been to the doc/er room for some injury involving metal they give me one if I haven't had one recently.
I dislike needles very much so.

I started putting up a 4 year reminder on my google calendar to go get a shot. I step on enough nails and sharp objects.

If you can get your hands on the OLD large flat rate box do it ! The news one have gotten smaller.
Hospitals are dangerous ! You know how many people die in them each year ! Becareful if you do choose to go there. ;)
I can be careless sometimes. Though I have learned some valuable lessons along the way. The biggest lesson of all: Work smart, not hard. I can thank my dad for that one, took years of him drilling it in my head, but it finally sank in.
I've got a pair of gloves that are impossible to misplace. Calluses . I don't even feel it when I get sliced anymore lol but it took a lot of time to achieve that. And lots of tetanus shots. I suppose the desert climate helped leather me up a bit too. But I agree, work smart. And hard. Just don't work hard in a not smart way. One of my biggest health concerns in this business is carcinogens. Ick.
