Found a nice stainless Panasonic microwave 1250 watt (I actually own the same model and it's great) on the side of a dumpster this morning with a note that it works but the light is burned out. Should I replace the bulb and clean it up for CL or part it out and scrap the rest?
Bulbs are cheap, but every time I ran across a microwave I always wondered what had been in there before I got it.
I guess if it is clean you could sell it.
Another example of what your time and investment is worth versus the return you get. Scrapping of you know for sure you will get xx.xx. Selling it on craigslist may get you more but it should look nice everything works. Like was mentioned bulb is cheap and in most models fairly easy to replace. Have picked up some clean on the inside microwaves but take off the cover and some nasty looking stuff hiding. Me I strip and sell usable parts and scrap the rest. But that's what works for me.
Me, I'd pull all the parts, forgo the $4 scrap value, and store em in a box till your now working one breaks, and then save yourself the $100-$150 repair/replacement ; )
How much do you think it's worth in parts for resale? I was thinking the glass tray inside, the roller under the glass, magnatron, invertor would be thrown on Ebay in a BIN and just keep it up until it sells. The rest scrap it.Quote:

I thought about that but mine is maybe a year or two old and then we moved into a rental that has a oven hood style and the Panasonic is now in storage in the garage. In order for that plan to work I would have to have two microwaves break before I would need the parts to fix mine. Probably not going to happen. Rather not hold onto a bunch of stuff either.Quote:
