Hey I figure some of the other old timers have a thread, Thought I'd make one myself. Maybe keep it neater and tidy!
Scored a Geothermal Furnace from my HVAC guy. MASSIVE amounts of copper. Still trying to figure out how to get the copper out of this one part- it appears to be pressed in!

Those copper pipes with the groves on em' look like copper liqourice. yummy!!

Dude.. I've been so busy. Still Plugging on this massive Jobsite project. I had a 2 month Straight work myself to the bone on our house. Had a hallway complete gut out and 2 additional rooms to final prep- because carpet was being put in.. I hardly had time to pee. Hopefully back on track now and will start hunting some cars too!

Supposed to pick up some type of "farm implement" next Saturday. No idea what it is.. Just hoping the trailer will handle it!

I do need some advice- anyone have a tip on how to get that solid twist copper out of that "macaroni" I beat the one you can see the end of it with a hammer and it still didn't pop out! Want to take that in as CLEAN instead of dirty.. You saw the small cooling core- I was able to cut them off with a metal chop saw and they popped right out- the other coil of them- is NOT being so nice. The steel that it is wrapped in has a flat side so it wedges that copper in there pretty tight!

Like to get my hands on some of that stuff. Got a solar Heat unit once, minus the panels, you would not beleive how much copper pipe and brass those things contain.

Well Gents.. Figured out how to get that pressed copper out of that core. Just spent about 2 hours using the metal cut-off saw to slice them up into smaller bits, locked them into a bench vice and pounded them out. Here are the fruits of my labor. Steel went in this morning.. now all there is left is a pile of cash..err.. I mean copper.. brass and wire! Here is all the Clean #1 that got pulled

Thanks My Man... The even better thing is the HVAC guy will never take a penny for anything.. he just wants it off his truck. He had told me that he was doing this furnace. I asked him "When you pull it.. can I have it?" He came driving in and I was like "WHAAAAAA" Yeah!

My neighbor used to scrap alot of heat exchangers that look very similar to those. The ones he scrapped came from Geo-thremal type HVAC systems. He used a hand held band saw. I remember he wished he had a portable band saw. He also had a Pipe vise to hold on to them.

I would have to agree with that. Even cutting these with a metal chop saw, tossing the chunks into a bucket of water, then plopping them into a bench vice and beating them out- was a chore.
I woke up this morning though with a thought. Since these copper pieces are so dang cool.. I was reminded of numerous post on here from Jill... these copper macaroni twists may end up on Ebay- the crafters would go coo coo bananas I would think! Make far more than at scrap weight- which would still be pretty significant!
