Rear gate on trailer: Custom panel gate

Hello,

I have been needing to build a gate on my trailer for awhile now but, I couldnt decide how I wanted it. There are the regular choices of a ramp or doors but I decided to go with a panel. I like doors for what I do but, I dont know how to weld yet so I came up with this panel idea. I just used a pallet, a couple of 2x4s, and 4 sliding locks and it turns out to work pretty good. The sliding locks go through wood and metal so, the panel stays in place well. Its actually pretty quick to take on and off and sure beats tying everything down with straps.

I can't weld either, but where there's a will, there's a way. Looks good!

Nice job,
how about adding a couple of eye bolts attached to the top of the sides.
Than you could use some rope to pull the sides in.
This will help prevent the sides form spreading which would cause the panel to fall off.

Thanks for the concern david. You probably cant tell by the picture but in the back of the trailer I have L-shaped metal from bed frames on each side. The trailer has a short 1ft metal wall welded on it. I just screw in as many self-tapping screws as I could on each side to attach the L-metal to the trailer wall so, its pretty sturdy and prevents the walls from spreading.
