Went to my yard a few weeks ago and took a bunch of stuff, including a few buckets of transformers and motors. They classified them as high grade motors and low grade motors. Only got .10/# for low and .15/# for high grade. Doesn't that seem awfully low? I'm very tempted to break down all my copper motors now.
post the other prices you know so we can help figure out if its just one or two items, or the whole list thats low.
I am not surprised that some yards might be doing different grades of motors. .15 seems kind of low though. The yard I use is .18, but I get .21
They could be separating aluminum windings from copper windings. Also, electric motors pay better at the yard I go to than transformers.
Maybe either of those reasons.
agree with the aluminum windings. my yard pays 0.08 for aluminum and aluminum / copper but 0.17 on copper wound. transformers / copper bearing i get 0.17. so double check what you take in. my yard hits any motor with exposed windings with an angle grinder to check. big transformers too.
WOW!!! I've been getting .34# for all electric motors even the fans from computers. They never check the windings and they even help unload. I feel blessed.
